The highest peak is the Mulhacén with its 3,481 meters, followed by the Veleta with 3,395 meters.

Monachil is the best known village in the Sierra Nevada, is located at 800 meters above sea level and is the favourite location when it comes to winter sports along with Pradollano, further up, a tiny village from where the ski slopes start.

Pradollano in winter time is transformed into a ski resort and the area becomes very popular in high season, considering also the hours of daylight you’ll find here in this time of the year; making Sierra Nevada a unique destination in respect to the other European ski resorts.
