Scuba Diving in Cabo de Gata

  • The marine reserve of Cabo de Gata, on the coast of Almeria, is the ideal place for scuba diving.
The waters are generally calm, rich in marine life, the coastline is dotted with small coves and volcanic caves, the water visibility is excellent.
  • You can go diving all year round, dive centers here offer diving courses for all levels, from beginner to divemaster, or specialty courses.
There are a lot of good dive sites in the Cabo de Gata reserve, between the Isleta del Moro, San Josè, Las Negras and Agua Amarga.
  • Haddocks, groupers, moray eels, and even triggerfish, are typical of these reefs, in some spots at only 15 meters depth the sea bed becomes rocky and gets covered with a dense meadow of Posidonia, clearly visible from the air; not to mention the chance to wreck dive on El Vapor, an old steamboat lying at an average of 35 meters depth.
