What to see and do in Jerez de la Frontera



La Catedral de Jerez. The Cathedral is one of the most important historical monuments of the city together with the Alcázar. It was built in the seventeenth century on the ruins of an Arab mosque.  This ancient church combines gothic, baroque and neoclassical styles.

El Alcázar. It was the ancient Moorish palace / fortress, the seat of Jerez powerful rulers. It was built in the XII century and developed in later centuries. Notable for its gardens, the Arab baths and the mosque.

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. The home of the Andalusian purebred horse, is real landmark in today’s Jerez de la Frontera. The school is the institution that maintains the traditions and develops the training techniques of the Andalusian horse. Here the best  horses and riders are prepared for international dressage competitions.
The Royal Andalusian School is open to tourists and is well known for its "dancing stallions" shows.

Las Bodegas de Sherry. The wineries where high quality sherry wine is produced. There are at least 20 wineries in town, including famous names such as González Byass, Williams & Humbert, Sandeman, Pedro Domecq, Garvey and Harveys. You will be offered guided tours explaining the origins and the various production stages, and of course wine tasting.

The Sherry Sound Festival. Born in 2012, it is a modern festival based on the '60 Mods culture.
