Population: 66,100 – Altitude: 20 Mt – Website: www.estepona.es

Estepona is a beautiful town located in the province of Malaga on the Costa del Sol, at approximately 30 km from the famous Marbella.

Estepona managed to maintain its charm, with the old town situated right in the city center, made up of small, narrow streets and whitewashed houses.  There's also a long Paseo Maritimo, the promenade facing the Mediterranean Sea with its long beach known as the Playa de la Rada, and the beautiful marina with its many bars and restaurants.
Immediately behind Estepona the impressive Sierra Bermeja mountains climb up to reach the height of 1,450 meters at the Los Reales Peak, a popular destination during the hot months.

The town origins are controversial, but thanks to the latest archeological discoveries it’s almost sure that Estepona has been a Roman settlement. During the Moorish domination the town existed as a small village-fortress called Al-Extebunna, which then evolved to become the current Estepona.
The town was taken by the troops of Castile only in 1456 during the late Christian Reconquest of Andalucia.

Today Estepona lives mainly on tourism, fishing and agriculture and is experiencing a very fast growth in population.
