What to see in El Rocio

What to see and do in El Rocio

La Ermita del Rocio. The Chapel where the Virgen del Rocio is kept is located in the middle of the village and displays a beautiful shell shaped facade. The chapel is the ending point of the “romeria”, the pilgrimage in honor to the Virgin of Rocio, which takes place at Pentecost and is the largest procession in Spain; in some years there are over a million pilgrims, on chariots, horses and on foot, who flock here from every corner of the peninsula.

The Doñana National Park. The village is one of the access points to this wonderful National Park, one of the two in Andalucia together with Sierra Nevada.
Doñana is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve, the park covers more than 500 km² of land where you can find yourself immersed in its fantastic and varied ecosystem made of sand dunes and marshlands along the Guadalquivir River delta, home to an amazing variety of fauna. The Doñana Park in fact gives shelter to the Iberian Lynx, to red deers, wild boars, flamingos, wild horses and even mongoose species, just to name few.
