Festivals and Food in Cadiz

Festivals in Cadiz | Food in Cadiz

The Carnival. The most famous carnival in the whole of Spain, and the city main event. It’s a massive street party celebrated in February and absolutely everyone is dressed up, from the oldest person down to the youngest kid. This celebration goes on through the streets of the city for days. There is also a competition between carnival comedy groups that takes place in the local Theater, the Grand Teatro Falla.

The Ibero-American Theater Festival. It is celebrated in October, in the Gran Teatro Falla; the festival showcase mainly latin american movies.

The Spanish Music Festival. Takes place during the second fortnight of November and offers a variety of musical styles, including a wide area dedicated to flamenco.

Tapear means going for Tapas and is one of the favorite activities in Cadiz. At any hour of the day you'll find people sitting at the bar, with a caña (draught beer) in hand and a few appetizers served in small plates.

We recommend trying the tortilla de camarones (shrimp omelet) or fried fish of any kind. The montaditos are small sandwiches, always used as tapas, with an incredible variety of fillings.
