La Alcazaba, Almeria's most emblematic landmark, a city fortress that the Caliph of Cordoba Abd ar-Rahman built in 955 AD and that transformed the town into a metropolis of the time. It covers an area of 43,000 square meters and is second in size only to the famous Alhambra of Granada.
