Alcalá de Guadaíra is located southeast of Seville on a small plateau at an average height of 50 meters above sea level. Nowadays, this town is practically considered a suburb of the Andalucian capital.

Alcala is also known as the City of bakers, because it provides bread to a large part of Seville.
During the course of centuries, Alcala has been a Greek and a Roman settlement, then an Arab town until its capture by the Christian troops under Ferdinand III of Castile .

Each of these civilizations has left its mark, but the most interesting dates back much earlier, about 4,000 years ago. It is thought that the first human settlement in the area can be traced back to the 'age' of copper.
